Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP)

Settlement Services

Permanent visa holders under the Australian Government’s Humanitarian Settlement Program can access the program within the first five years of arrival. Clients can receive the service for up to 18 months.

Who is eligible?

Permanent visa holders under the Australian Government’s Humanitarian Settlement Program can access the program within the first five years of arrival. Clients can receive the service for up to 18 months.

What does the program do?

The HSP provides people with the skills, knowledge and support to live happily and independently in their new community.

Participants receive a Case Manager who will support them through the program. The Case Manager works closely with each participant, helping them to identify their needs and tailor the program to suit.

Services provided through the program include:

  • Initial contact within two days of arrival to ensure your accommodation and basic needs are being met.
  • Development of a personalised HSP plan to achieve your settlement goals.
  • Support to register for relevant services such as medical and social services, language classes, school enrolments, and employment agencies.
  • Assistance in securing a property lease.
  • Orientation services to help you familiarise yourself with your community, including assistance with the use of public transport.

Once participants are referred to essential services, are in long term accommodation and have gained major competencies in respect to various aspects of life in Australia, they are seamlessly transferred to Cultura’s other settlement and community programs.

How long can people receive HSP services for?

Clients can receive services for up to 18 months.
