MACS and Diversitat have been serving the Geelong community for more than 40 years with a focus on our multicultural communities. As the new entity, Cultura operates across various sites delivering a range of services including residential aged care, home care and aged support services, settlement, training and education, financial counselling and disability support. We also operate a range of social enterprises including The Pulse community radio and various community events including the popular Pako Festa.

The Role:

This role is responsible for handling enquiries, assessing eligibility and lodging visa application for individuals and families seeking settlement in Australia. The role also requires assessment and lodgement of Australia Citizenship applications.

About You:

  • Manage a range of migration enquiries either in person, via email or over the phone;
  • Conduct case interviews to collect critical information for visa applications, and prepare client Statement of Claims;
  • Analyse client information and related documents to determine eligibility for Australian visas and citizenship;
  • Prepare visa applications and supporting documents and manage files accordingly and compliantly;
  • Conduct legal research with reference to the Migration Act, legislative provisions, regulations, policy and case law, and relevant country information to support client’s application;
  • Monitor pending applications, and liaise with DoHA and clients to provide updates, monitor requests;
  • Prepare responses for DoHA in relation to requests for further information, and eg: Natural Justice letters, and PIC4020;
  • Prepare applications for AAT appeals and represent clients at the AAT;
  • Comply with the code of conduct by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA);
  • Current registration with OMARA;
  • 3 + years working as a Registered Migration Agent;
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills; including bilingual capabilities (both written and verbal) in Arabic, Syriac, and/or Dari.
