MACS and Diversitat have been serving the Geelong community for more than 40 years with a focus on our multicultural communities. As the new entity, Cultura operates across various sites delivering a range of services including residential aged care, home care and aged support services, settlement, training and education, financial counselling and disability support. We also operate a range of social enterprises including The Pulse community radio and various community events including the popular Pako Festa.

We are looking for a dedicated individual to work in our Bella Chara team as a Personal Carer and Food Service Assistant.

The Role:

Bella Chara is a supported residential service providing accommodation and care for elders, most of whom have a high level of independence. Personal carers work specifically in Bella Chara and are responsible to the Manager: Bella Chara.

Personal carer duties include providing and documenting person-centred care, including support with intimate care and hygiene, as well as supporting and encouraging residents to remain independent and to enjoy life. Personal carers in Bella Chara also undertake daily cleaning duties.

The Food Services Assistant reports directly to the Food Services Team Leader, Bella Chara Manager and General Manager Residential and may be required to work in any of Cultura’s food services preparation/service areas. They must follow all designated shift and area specified duties.

The Food Services Assistant is required to follow Cultura’s food safety plan, including completing documentation. They are required to liaise effectively with other Cultura staff, especially when duties involve interactions with residents, family members and other visitors.

About You:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support
  • Experience in Food Handling
  • Understand and be able to follow food safety regulations and food safety plan.
  • Manage time effectively to meet workplace schedule.
  • Basic computer skills, For example, keyboard skills/data entry
  • Experience caring for elderly people, for example, in residential and/or community aged care setting or supported residential service.
  • Willingness to contribute as a team member to the creation and maintenance of a friendly and warm living environment for all Cultura residents.
  • Available on a casual basis.
