Housing Program Coordinator

The Housing Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the entry of newly arrived migrants into short term accommodation and then facilitating their transition to long term accommodation options.

This position will be contracted on a maximum-term part-time basis for 6 months, working 30 hours per week, with the potential to be extended.

About You:

  • Manage a property portfolio of short- and long-term accommodation utilized by newly arrived Humanitarian entrants;
  • Arrange suitable and welcoming short-term accommodation for clients on arrival;
  • Follow up on maintenance requests from clients, and be a contact point for Real Estate agents;
  • Work as part of a team and with key stakeholders to transition clients to long term accommodation through a planning process with each client, including providing the supports required;
  • Transfer current head leased properties by Cultura into the names of clients;
  • Attend rental property inspections and advocate on behalf of clients;
  • Ensure that supplies of linen for clients are kept at an appropriate level;
  • Arrange for the lawns and gardens at short term accommodation properties to be maintained;
  • Work with clients to develop skills and knowledge to independently manage their long-term housing needs;
  • Record client interventions and related activity on the organization’s database;
  • Ensure property inspections are undertaken at the time that clients enter and exit accommodation and follow up any required actions resulting from these inspections;
  • In conjunction with the Manager, Casework Services take a lead responsibility for shaping program service delivery in relation to meeting the accommodation needs of new arrivals;
  • Fully unrestricted Victorian driver’s license.
